What is Aimsweb?
AimswebPlus is assessment, data management and reporting system for grades K-8 enhanced to support standards-based instruction.
Who takes it?
All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
What does it measure?
The academic tests within aimswebPlus —named “measures”—address reading and mathematics skills.
When is it administered?
Aimsweb is administered three times per year in the Fall, Winter, and Spring to all students universally. Aimsweb Progress Monitoring probes are administered at least monthly to students receiving academic interventions in specific skill areas.
How is it administered?
Most measures take only one to four minutes to administer.
How are the results used?
Teachers can use Aimsweb scores to
- Personalize learning to match students’ early literacy needs
- Identify students who need additional support for early reading skills
- Recognize students who are making progress
Aimsweb is used as a screener initially to indicate if a student may need more focused instruction and then as a formative assessment throughout the year so that teachers can adjust their teaching, if needed.
Who requires it?
The district requires that students take this test.
